Hospitals grr!

Yet again we have spent some time in hospital and lo and behold it was a different one! Not sure there are many more we can sample now!! As I mentioned in my post the other day I was concerned about Millie being very sleepy. She did feed that night but it took a lot of work and was still sleepy Fri morning. I rang the health visitor and just left a message, in the meantime my parents and my gran came to visit. In the afternoon Millie was still sleepy and the health visitor rang me up to see what was up. I explained that Millie was very sleepy and that she had been hard work to feed, also she hadn't had a bowel movement since Tuesday morning. She suggested some tips to get her bowels moving but was concerned about her sleepiness especially as I had said it was out of character for her. So she wanted me to see the GP. Before we went to the docs I tried to wake Millie and give her a feed, I changed her nappy and lifted her legs to her head to hopefully get things moving below. It worked and she let out some wind followed by a very thick brown poo!- Nice! I then gave her a little feed and off we went to docs. The doctor did a pretty thorough examination of Millie and stripped her off to listen to her chest etc. Millie was still asleep and didn't cry, something she hadn't done the last couple of days. She couldn't say what was wrong and wasn't overly concerned but wanted us to go to hospital to be on the safe side.
So here we go another journey to hospital, good job my parents were here as my Dad was able to collect Liam from train station and my mother came with me to Singelton hospital in Swansea.
After examination from the doctor there and the registrar it was decided that bloods would be taken, urine collected and that she would be admitted overnight. No initial concerns though but could see that Millie was drowsy. Liam and I were both allowed to stay so he went home to get our things. Millie and I got onto the ward around 9.30 where we were seen by someone else. By this time Millie was starting to become a little more alert (typical!). They wanted Millie fed 2-3 hourly and nappies were weighed to see how much urine she was passing. The nurses were lovely and woke me up the first time to feed but then Millie woke the second time in the night to feed- whoo hooo!! It was more like 3-4 hourly though which was nice not sure I could have coped with feeding at 1.00 for 45 mins to be woken again at 3.00 etc. I was already tired and feeling worn out- not good for my milk.
This morning the doctors did their rounds and the outcome was that the bloods were ok and they were waiting for the urine sample results. Millie was more alert, had fed well and also cried. We were told that if urine came back ok we could go home but that it would be a couple of hours. I managed to sleep while Liam had some dad to daughter bonding. The nurse then came and told us that the urine would take longer because the lab people were not in on a Sat, so we could take another sample and they would do a general dipstick test, as long as that came back ok we could go home. It did and off we went, we haven't heard anything about the urine sample so hopefully everything is clear. As for what was wrong the only explanation was that it could have been a mild viral infection that cleared itself up. I think maybe the big poo helped!?
Millie was weighed when we got to the hospital and was down a bit from Monday but hopefully thats down to her not feeding much Thurs and Fri and when the health visitor comes out on Monday she will be back up a bit. I feel like my milk has decreased a bit since this has been going on and I know Millie will probably be a little guzzler the next couple of days and I am going to have to try and deal with it so my milk will be up. Liam has said he is going to take Martha out for the day tomorrow so that I can do just that but I think it will probably depend on the weather, what a change since this time last week.
So thats the latest hospital visit, hopefully now that we have been to 4 different one in the area thats it for awhile!!! I think Millie missed out on getting name labels when she was born that she wanted her own set and how else to get them than a visit to hospital!!!
